Call Centre Representative 

The Call Centre Representative is responsible for providing excellent service to our members. This position is based out of our Kitchener-Waterloo area office. 

In summary, the Call Centre Representative will: 

  • Respond to external member telephone inquires in a timely, professional manner. 
  • Provide quality service to WFCU Credit Union members. 
  • Process basic financial transactions for our members such as deposits, withdrawals, bill payments, US transactions, money orders and more. 
  • Assist members over the telephone while providing excellent member service. 
  • Complete miscellaneous administrative duties. 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • Completed post-secondary education. 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills while working in a fast-paced environment. 
  • One to two years of call centre experience.

Marketing Communications Specialist 

As a key team member and content creator, you have a solid understanding of advertising, sales, branding, campaigns, events, and digital media. From increasing awareness, educating and changing attitudes to motivating prospective members, you act and write with a clear goal in mind. 

Comfortable working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, you can quickly adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously. You have a solid understanding of what it means to contribute to a longer-term strategy, and every piece you develop demonstrates this. 

You will help clarify our suite of products and services across the organization and ensure our key stakeholders understand WFCU Credit Union’s purpose and all we have to offer. 

In summary, the Marketing Communications Specialist will: 

  • Produce multi-purpose content for a variety of channels. 
  • Help create unique promotional material to support the growth of our various divisions and their products and services. 
  • Collaborate and support the creative team to promote all our brands and products in both member and non-member campaigns. 
  • Effectively inform, educate and engage members and non-members through written materials. 
  • Utilize experience in strategic communications to develop and execute communication plans consistent with the credit union’s strategic plan. 

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for: 

  • Developing and writing content for a wide variety of deliverables, including annual reports, planning documents, and website pages. 
  • Coordinating media testimonials, including but not limited to radio and press releases. 
  • Staying up to date with the latest technology, industry trends and industry best practices. 
  • Planning and executing communications strategies in a variety of areas, including media relations and internal/external communications. 
  • Researching, writing and editing engaging web content that helps position WFCU in the minds of our ideal member. 
  • Building strong relationships with various stakeholders to gather relevant content to inform and drive communication activities. 
  • Working within WFCU brand guidelines and writing style to champion the brand, ensuring quality and consistency.

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for include the following: 

  • A degree or diploma in Corporate Communications, Marketing Communications or a related field. 
  • Copywriting or publishing certificate. 
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of related work experience. 
  • A self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Comfortable writing first drafts and editing the work of others. 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing time demands. 
  • Expert knowledge of digital media and social media technology.

  • Offer advice related to estate planning, education savings planning, budgeting, retirement planning and basic tax planning.

As the successful candidate, you’ll have responsibility for: 

  • Fostering relationships to gain, service and retain business opportunities. 
  • Creating diversified registered and non-registered portfolios through the sale of mutual funds based on your recommendations. 
  • Completing financial plans for members by identifying member financial objectives, gathering/processing/analyzing relevant information, developing the financial plan, implementation and consistent follow up. 
  • Conducting continuous market research and trend analysis. 
  • Providing reporting to the credit union. 
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues. 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • Post-secondary education in business or finance. 
  • A PFP or CFP and MFDA licensing is required. 
  • A minimum of 5 years financial services experience. 
  • A commitment to providing exceptional member service. 
  • Ability to work in an innovative, fast-paced environment. 
  • A strong knowledge of computers notably related software and programs.

MANAGER, ACCOUNTING 

As a Manager, Accounting, you will have responsibility for completing accounting functions on behalf of the credit union. 

In summary, the Manager, Accounting will: 

  • Prepare financial statements. 
  • Manage reporting including ensuring ledger and bank accounts are balanced. 
  • Be responsible for ensuring proper controls are maintained. 

As the successful candidate, you’ll have responsibility for: 

  • Ensuring accuracy in data and reporting. 
  • Ensuring compliance within established accounting standards and procedures to safeguard the credit union’s assets from misappropriation and recommend new or improved controls and efficiencies. 
  • Leading day-to-day accounting functions including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Bank and ATM reconciliation, General Ledger, certificate investments, GL postings, subsidiary ledgers reconcilements, etc. 
  • Assisting with monthly financial statements and reports. 
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end processes. 
  • Ensuring the Accounts Payable function remains current and disbursements are allocated to the correct account including proper authorization. 
  • Ensuring daily balance share (loan and share) analysis and daily cash portion analysis are in balance. 
  • Monitoring and analyzing financial accounting data and creating financial reports based on data analysis. 
  • Preparing and filing all financial and regulatory reports on time as required for the credit union. 
  • Adhering to tax laws and regulatory compliance to properly reflect the financial position of the credit union. 
  • Reviewing and identifying the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the credit union’s resources. 
  • Regularly reviewing general ledger accounts to identify discrepancies or variances and provide resolutions or explanations. 
  • Any other duties as assigned. 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • The successful candidate must be certified as a Chartered Professional Accountant. 
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in an accounting or finance role. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Expert proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. 
  • Scheduling flexibility including extended hours during certain periods.

CONTROLLER 

As the Controller, you will provide day-to-day support and oversight in the area of finance and accounting. You will lead the finance and accounting department by ensuring that relevant activities are completed in a timely manner, in accordance with reporting deadlines. In addition, you will be requested to provide ad-hoc analysis and review of specific accounting or financial information and report on the results. 

In summary, the Controller will: 

  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including review of reconciliations and variances. 
  • Perform month end duties such as closing entries, analysis, internal reporting, and regulatory reporting. 
  • Lead and provide coaching to the accounting & finance team. 
  • Assist in the preparation, analysis and interpretation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to support decision-making, including the drafting of memos and whitepapers on relevant accounting issues. 
  • Examine and analyze accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards, regulations, procedures, and internal controls. 
  • Prepare the consolidated financial statements and related disclosures. 
  • Analyze and report on financial statement variances. 
  • Assist in project management and the implementation of new programs/strategies.
  • Assist the VP, Finance in overall objectives and goals of the credit union and accounting department. 
  • Oversee the budget and LCE (Latest Current Estimate – Forecasting) process. 
  • Work with both internal and external auditors, including the development of spreadsheets and working papers to support financial statement balances. 
  • Research accounting issues to ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards. 
  • Assist with governance reporting including board and executive committees. 
  • Any other duties as assigned. 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • The successful candidate must be certified as certified as a Chartered Professional Accountant with a minimum of three to five years of experience in an accounting/finance role. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills are critical. 
  • Skilled people manager with strong interpersonal skills and a focus on teamwork. 
  • Well-organized with refined attention to detail. 
  • The ability to analyze data using Excel functionality is vital.
  • The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent proficiency in the MS Office suite of applications and have the technological flexibility to learn and utilize new software applications unique to the organization.

  • The applicant should be able to follow both a team-oriented and an independent learning approach to their role, and be proficient in prioritizing tasks.

HELP DESK SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

The Help Desk Support Technician will provide frontline support of our voice, data and security systems’ infrastructure (personal computers, printers, multi-functional devices, telephones, security cameras/digital video recording devices, software, etc.) to maximize uptime, reduce support inquiries and comply with security best practices.

In summary, the Help Desk Support Technician will:

  • Provide frontline support to all internal customers. This includes identifying trends and recommending “fixes” to reduce future support enquires.
  • Support and troubleshoot frontline hardware.

As a Graphic Designer, you will create print and digital communications for a variety of audiences. You have the professional ability to convey our brand’s key messages in an effective and aesthetically pleasing manner. 

In summary, the Graphic Designer will: 

  • Create brochures, signs, advertisements (print & digital), social media posts, etc. based on approved creative direction and strategy.

As the Director, Finance, you will provide day-to-day support in the area of finance and accounting. You will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, and preparing materials for management discussion and analysis on a monthly basis. In addition, you will be required to provide ad-hoc analysis and review of specific accounting or financial information and report on the results. 

In summary, the Director, Finance will: 

  • Managing all aspects of the general ledger. 
  • Performing month end duties such as account review, variance analysis and statement preparation. 
  • Overseeing the accounting function to ensure that all reporting activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Monitoring financial and regulatory metrics and reporting trends and status to executive management. 
  • Reviewing monthly information reports for regulatory reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness. 
  • Assisting in the preparation, analysis and interpretation of monthly financial reports to support decision making. 
  • Analyzing accounting and financial records, and systems to ensure compliance with established accounting standards, regulations, procedures, and internal controls. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual consolidated financial statements and note disclosures. 
  • Supporting the budget and forecasting processes with both preparation and oversight. 
  • Providing support during both internal and external audits. 
  • Developing and implementing accounting policy changes and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting; including IFRS research where applicable. 
  • Assisting with governance reporting including drafting whitepapers and memorandums as necessary. 
  • Mentoring and training the accounting team to optimize departmental effectiveness.

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

The successful candidate must be certified as a Chartered Professional Accountant with a minimum of five years of experience in an accounting/finance role. 

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills are critical. 
  • The applicant must be well-organized with a refined attention to detail. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to grasp complex issues and effectively report financial results and issues in a clear and concise manner.
