Community Investment Specialist 

WFCU Credit Union is committed to investing in the communities in which we live and work. The successful candidate will have a passion for community relations while understanding the needs of the communities where WFCU Credit Union provides services. The candidate should welcome the opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced environment coordinating various initiatives. 

Reporting into the Manager, Member Engagement & Community Investment, the Community Investment Specialist will assist in the day-to-day operations and coordination of signature community investment programs including WFCU’s Inspire Program, as well as monthly budget reconciliations, sponsorship review, and assist in making recommendations for various initiatives. 

In summary, the Community Investment Specialist will: 

  • Review and coordinate sponsorship and Community Investment requests in consultation with the Manager, Member Engagement and Community Investment. 
  • Work collaboratively with our Communications and Marketing team in the design, planning and execution of promotional plans that inspire the members of our communities to engage and support community investment programs, partnerships and events. 
  • Refine and enhance the process to track community investment activities, gather photos, collect feedback and report on program sponsorship outcomes. 
  • Prepare community investment content annual report information by partnering with our Communications and Marketing team. 
  • Attend events and represent the Credit Union as needed (at times may be outside of normal business hours). 
  • Prepare monthly reports regarding community investment expenditures and initiatives. 
  • Administer contracts and payments between WFCU Credit Union and community partners. 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for include the following: 

  • At least 3 years experience in the not-for-profit/public or corporate sectors. 
  • Post-secondary and/or continuing education related to corporate community investment and not-for-profit program management. 
  • Demonstrated strengths in engaging and coordinating volunteers, customer relations, project planning and budget management. 
  • Experience coordinating various not for profit programs or partnerships is required. 
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating various not for profit programs or partnerships. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Highly motivated and works well in a fast-paced, fluid environment; comfortable in an environment of continuous improvement and change.

CONTROLLER 

As the Controller, you will provide day-to-day support and oversight in the area of finance and accounting. You will lead the finance and accounting department by ensuring that relevant activities are completed in a timely manner, in accordance with reporting deadlines. In addition, you will be requested to provide ad-hoc analysis and review of specific accounting or financial information and report on the results. 

In summary, the Controller will: 

  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including review of reconciliations and variances. 
  • Perform month end duties such as closing entries, analysis, internal reporting, and regulatory reporting. 
  • Lead and provide coaching to the accounting & finance team. 
  • Assist in the preparation, analysis and interpretation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to support decision-making, including the drafting of memos and whitepapers on relevant accounting issues. 
  • Examine and analyze accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards, regulations, procedures, and internal controls. 
  • Prepare the consolidated financial statements and related disclosures. 
  • Analyze and report on financial statement variances. 
  • Assist in project management and the implementation of new programs/strategies.
  • Assist the VP, Finance in overall objectives and goals of the credit union and accounting department. 
  • Oversee the budget and LCE (Latest Current Estimate – Forecasting) process. 
  • Work with both internal and external auditors, including the development of spreadsheets and working papers to support financial statement balances. 
  • Research accounting issues to ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards. 
  • Assist with governance reporting including board and executive committees. 
  • Any other duties as assigned. 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • The successful candidate must be certified as certified as a Chartered Professional Accountant with a minimum of three to five years of experience in an accounting/finance role. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills are critical. 
  • Skilled people manager with strong interpersonal skills and a focus on teamwork. 
  • Well-organized with refined attention to detail. 
  • The ability to analyze data using Excel functionality is vital.
  • The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent proficiency in the MS Office suite of applications and have the technological flexibility to learn and utilize new software applications unique to the organization.

  • The applicant should be able to follow both a team-oriented and an independent learning approach to their role, and be proficient in prioritizing tasks.

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing excellent service to our membership. This position will be located out of our Windsor/Essex or Kitchener-Waterloo locations. 

In summary, the Customer Service Representative will: 

  • Respond to external member inquiries in a timely, professional manner 
  • Provide quality service to WFCU Credit Union members 
  • Process basic over-the-counter financial transactions for our strictly business members such as deposits, withdrawals, bill payments, US transactions, money orders and more 
  • Complete miscellaneous administrative duties 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • At least 1-3 years prior experience in a customer service role 
  • Completed post-secondary education 
  • Excellent communication and customer service/sales skills 
  • Two to four years of cash handling experience

As the Director, Finance, you will provide day-to-day support in the area of finance and accounting. You will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, and preparing materials for management discussion and analysis on a monthly basis. In addition, you will be required to provide ad-hoc analysis and review of specific accounting or financial information and report on the results. 

In summary, the Director, Finance will: 

  • Managing all aspects of the general ledger. 
  • Performing month end duties such as account review, variance analysis and statement preparation. 
  • Overseeing the accounting function to ensure that all reporting activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Monitoring financial and regulatory metrics and reporting trends and status to executive management. 
  • Reviewing monthly information reports for regulatory reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness. 
  • Assisting in the preparation, analysis and interpretation of monthly financial reports to support decision making. 
  • Analyzing accounting and financial records, and systems to ensure compliance with established accounting standards, regulations, procedures, and internal controls. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual consolidated financial statements and note disclosures.

This position will be located in the Kitchener-Waterloo region.

As a Graphic Designer, you will create print and digital communications for a variety of audiences. You have the professional ability to convey our brand’s key messages in an effective and aesthetically pleasing manner. 

In summary, the Graphic Designer will: 

  • Create brochures, signs, advertisements (print & digital), social media posts, etc. based on approved creative direction and strategy. 
  • Produce drafts for review with subsequent revisions to be made based on feedback. 
  • Prepare files for print and digital. 
  • Review proofs and final products for errors. 
  • Ensure all finals reflect specific branding guidelines. 
  • Work with printers and other vendors as needed. 
  • Liaise with search engine optimization providers. 

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for: 

  • Working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. 
  • Managing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

  • A professional portfolio showcasing both print and digital designs.

  • UI/UX Design theory to improve creative solutions for a variety of media.

The Administration Assistant, Automotive Strategies is responsible for providing excellent service and administrative support to the Fulfillment Team.  This position will be based out of one of our Kitchener-Waterloo locations.

In summary, the Loan & Leasing Administrator will:

  • Prepare loan documentation
  • Audit incoming loan/lease documents
  • Process loan/lease payouts and refunds
  • PPSA registration and release
  • Process vehicle accident and death claims
  • Set up member accounts and loans
  • Prepare Lease Termination documentation
  • Process monthly data reports
  • Maintain relationships with external members and dealerships

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:

  • A diploma in Office Administration, Legal studies or a related field

Project Manager 

As the Project Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring that all required activities for new Payments related initiatives are completed on time, and have been appropriately tested. This includes the development, setup, and ongoing support of the credit union’s payment platforms and all member facing and vendor initiatives. 

In summary, the Project Manager will: 

  • Manage projects effectively from start to finish using hybrid agile methodology. 
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with the various internal and external stakeholders involved in the credit union’s priority projects for Payments. 
  • Create and maintain all components of the Project Management Plan including project schedule, budget, resource assignment, and risks register. 
  • Act as the central point of communication for the internal project team and other internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Oversee the estimation process. 
  • Weekly reconciliation and reporting on the project budget. 
  • Prompt communication and resolution of any changes to the project scope, schedule, and cost. 
  • Own the change control process to avoid scope creep by ensuring that only approved changes are implemented. 
  • Prioritize project work according to dependencies, urgency, and impact. 
  • Lead project meetings and design reviews.

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • The successful candidate must have a post-secondary education in business, finance, or other equivalent discipline. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience is required. 
  • A PMP certification is required.

  • Knowledge of different project management methodologies, strong attention to detail, exceptional time management and organizations skills are required.

 The Systems Assistant will provide frontline support of our voice, data and security systems’ infrastructure (personal computers, printers, multi-functional devices, telephones, security cameras/digital video recording devices, software, etc.) to maximize uptime, reduce support inquiries and comply with security best practices. 

In summary, the Systems Assistant will:  

  • Provide frontline support to all internal customers. This includes identifying trends and recommending “fixes” to reduce future support enquires. 
  • Support and troubleshoot frontline hardware. 
  • Support and troubleshoot frontline software applications. This includes the set-up, maintenance and tracking of all user accounts. 
  • Maintain and support security applications. 
  • Maintain and support Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). 
  • Maintain, support and monitor the timely distribution of all reports. 
  • Perform routine maintenance on our frontline voice, data and security systems’ infrastructure. 
  • Recommend and document user manuals or “how to” that provide step-by-step answers to frequently asked questions. 
  • Process, log and report on regular administrative duties. 

 The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • A degree or diploma in Business or Information Technology. 
  • A minimum of one to three years of experience in a related position. 
  • A self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail.

 As a Wealth Consultant you are responsible for the provision of financial planning and investment advice services to our membership. This includes but is not limited to the production of financial and investment plans. This position can be located in the Windsor or Kitchener-Waterloo regions. 

In summary, the Wealth Consultant will: 

  • Report to the VP, Retail Delivery 
  • Offer advice related to estate planning, education savings planning, budgeting, retirement planning and basic tax planning. 
  • Comply with established policies, guidelines and procedures. 

As the successful candidate, you’ll have responsibility for: 

  • Fostering relationships to gain, service and retain business opportunities. 
  • Creating diversified registered and non-registered portfolios through the sale of mutual funds based on your recommendations. 
  • Completing financial plans for members by identifying member financial objectives, gathering/processing/analyzing relevant information, developing the financial plan, implementation and consistent follow up. 
  • Conducting continuous market research and trend analysis. 
  • Providing reporting to the credit union. 
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues. 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are: 

  • Post-secondary education in business or finance. 
  • A PFP or CFP and MFDA licensing is required. 
  • A minimum of 5 years financial services experience. 
  • A commitment to providing exceptional member service. 
  • Ability to work in an innovative, fast-paced environment. 
  • A strong knowledge of computers notably related software and programs. 

Additional skills are considered assets too: 

  • Proven experience in building portfolios. 
  • Entrepreneurial aptitude. 
  • Proactive Business Development.
